Waikowhai Art festival

      ðŸ˜œWaikowhai Art festival😜

😜😜😜
Hey, bloggers!
Lately we have had an art festival!
Everybody in Waikowhai Primary School had to make an art piece to show in our hall on the different times for each night.
This year my class (Hauraki) did a bird painting to put into the show.
Our first show was on Tuesday at 6:15 pm, second was on Wednesday, the third is on Thursday and then Friday is the last show then we pack up.
We also did another thing. The structure of our rubbish house is made out of wood (The wood was recycled timber). Then we put plastic bags as the walls.
We were going to show it in the art show but it was raining hard out when the art show was on.
At the art show there were heaps of food!
But it was ALL for the grownups!!!😒😓

Here are some pictures.

Please Click Here for more about the plastic house.

Blog you later!

When: 14th of June
Were: At Auckland Zoo
What: The Auckland Zoo was amazing! There were so many really cool animals there.
Why: Because we wanted to learn new stuff about the animals at the Zoo

Who: The seniors of Waikowhai Primary School.
How: We went by bus.

On Thursday the 14th of June we went to the Auckland Zoo! We saw lots of really cool animals. At the Zoo we didn't see just non native animals we also went into the native bird area. We saw a NZ Wood Pidgin (Keruru). It was on a mans head!, (But he worked there.) My favourite animal there was the Otter and the Meerkat and the otter. The Meerkat was so cute and the otter, well we didn't get to see, but it is me favourite animal AT THE ZOO.

My Owl Art

My Owl Art
To make my painting is...  Water strength, Cartridge paper and paint. ( The type of paint is Chromactryl)

1) I copied a native NZ Owl into my art book then I got a piece of Cartridge paper and copied it in a big version on my good paper.

2) After that I drew the background of my bird.

3) Then when I finished drawing the background I painted the background, I needed it to be my best! Then When I finished painting the background and it finished drying, I painted the bird. Ms Sands said that it had the be the most main part of the picture and it had to stand out of the painting.

 My Reaction to my work.

I like my painting because i think I worked hard at it and I was patient with it so it looks nice, but I do not like the eyes of my bird because they are badly smudged. I think what I can do to improve is to ask Ms Sands before I do anything to my painting. What I cant change but I would change next time is that I would change my bird to a different bird.

Here is my picture

After, Mrs.Sands said to find a friend to check your work and tell you their opinion.
This is my friends opinion....
Chimay: It stands out it has bright colours and it is big and bold.
Something that you should change next time is maybe the sun because there are white gaps in the yellow and maybe add more detail to the bird.

Overall I think that I did a really good job because I have never painted like that before.
But I could have never done it without help!

Tiritiri Matangi Trip Questions

When we went to Tiritiri Matangi island. We learned lots about native animals, plants and any animals that are native to New Zealand. We stayed there from the start of 7:20 to 6:40 or 30. We all had a enormas emount of fun and laughter when a funny fact came up but at the same time we learned e bag full of new things about native animals on Tiritiri Matangi. When we came back to school the first day after the trip, we did inquiry and we made these questions...

My House learning

W.A.L.T make our own house that with be in our future.
In my reading group at Waikowhai school we read a book and we had to make a future house that can stand up to big waves, earthquake's and lots of rain and wind. So this is my house that i made, but before you see it you must read this...

Katie's House info
Today in reading we had to make a house that would be safe in any natural disasters.
I made a house that is super safe because i listened to the storybook that could helped us, it said to have in a safe house   A system to water, a way to the main Rd and a beriar and some of our own things and i have all of those things! So my house is super safe.

This is what i made!
I think that i would do a floating house next time so it can float past the tsunami and all the bad stuff, and in the future there will probably be weird and cool magic stuff!

Des Hunt comes to Waikowhia

Des Hunt Came to school!

Des Hunt came to waikowhia to show his books to the school, he brought some mini versions of some of his books, for people that brought money to buy.
The senior part of the school like to read Des Hunt. Right now the senor school are reading some of his books, Hauraki is my class and we are reading   Sunken Forest by Des Hunt.   We were asking some questions to Des Hunt when he came to the hall, my question was    Why Did You Start Writing Book?    When he was sharing his smartness he showed us some stuff about negative and positive force. When he pushed the ball up the ramp he made then the ball did not go to far but when he put some magnates it helped the mar balls climb up the steep hill.

My favourite part was the part when the big balloon poped because it was loud and I liked the way the balloon got bigger and bigger and bigger and bigger util.....   It blew up!!!  It was important because he was meaning to tell a story a fun way, he did not just tell us the story in a normal way we tell a story but he told it a really funny and fun way.

Now that I've seen this show i am going to when i get stuck in problems then I think of Des Hunt's show and i take the problem like science and i can solve it like it is something that I am good at, so i can do it better.

Here is some videos about what we did.

Learn about learning and look or read this.

Friday 13 April 2018

This is my reading map. I had to pick a word to find information about it. My word is expert. I did know this word and i could use in a sentence, but i did not know what it meant exactly.

So I used expert in this.

What the ocean would say if it had a voice.

I had to work with a google drawing to make a poster of what, we think the ocean would say if it had a voice.

This is my work. I like doing this work. I new what to do so it was easy to do.

Swimming at Comoran pools

  Swimming

Lately we have been learning how to swim! Every one was stunned at the sound of year 3, 4, 5 and 6 going to Cameron pools! Each week we have the opportunities to swim at lunch time.

We went swimming in the school pool...

  and at Cameron pools.

We had  lots of fun swimming.
My class loved our trios to Comoran pools!
